SQL / POSTGRESQL / Learn / LESSON 08
NULL means missing or unknown, not empty text or zero. Comparing with = NULL is not true even for a missing value. Use IS NULL or IS NOT NULL. WHERE excludes rows whose condition evaluates to unknown.
Example: SELECT name FROM products WHERE category IS NULL returns only rows with a missing category — empty text '' is not NULL and will not match.
Small example:
SELECT name FROM customers WHERE city IS NOT NULL;Working tables for this task. Grading also uses other datasets with the same schema.
